O'S MARTIAL ARTS- How it All
Relates to his Traumatic Injury and Wellness Practice.
Although many practitioners of
Acupuncture in the west may start a career in the field due to need for
self discovery, O's totally missed 60's and did not really
have that much tofu in his lifetime. He is not a
vegetarian, in fact he contributed to the slaughter of a lot
of chickens in his amateur body building days, eating up to
twelve chicken breasts a day along with healthy serving of
broccoli. Although he loves the environment, he does
not necessarily hug trees everyday.
His first interests
in Acupuncture comes from his need to fix his own injuries
he has accumulated for over thirty year of athletic training
and from his need to take his knowledge of Martial Arts to the
next level by learning the intricacies of Traditional
Chinese Medicine. Learning to heal is the right path
for the Martial Artist, because Healing Arts (The Yin) and
Martial Arts (The Yang) are part of one another. All
martial artists who seek the highest level of learning,
sooner or later travel this road.
O's is extreme proponent
of non-violence. However in his current
clinical practice, he appreciates the
experience he has gained through hundreds of injuries he has
received from the martial arts; All of which he has treated
successfully on himself using methods of Acupuncture and
Herbal Medicine.
He also appreciates all the
self experimentation he has conducted on his body with diet
and exercise as he trained athletics at all levels -
Becoming a speeding bullet through cardiovascular exercise
at 4% Body Fat weighing 153 pounds as seen on this picture
or becoming a 230 pound beef cow squatting 405 and benching
315 as an amateur body builder training with weights at 10%
body fat, at
times totally looking like comic book character "The Hulk" as
seen on the picture below.
O's
has also experimented with being
a couch potato when he feels like it, eating cheese cake
when it is time and enjoying getting fat, and not eating the
cheese cake when he is cycling his training through out
the calendar year. Although he has appeared in fitness
shows, newspapers etc, he does not necessarily look like a
fitness guy in regular life unless he needs to. When
he needs to, it's just matter of days, weeks or months of
precision - all depending on what he wants to accomplish. He
believes in healthy lifestyle but not necessarily the
healthy life style presented in the media. When he
talks to his clients about wellness, it is about being well
and feeling well.
When a client comes
in after a traumatic injury, O's gets to hear a lot of "Wow,
how did you know that is exactly where it hurts? It
all gets even weirder when O's tells the client next five
spots and the type of sensations they are most likely
feeling. O's can do this simply because there is
nothing like first hand experience.....
Do you want to go to
a healthcare practitioner who just reads about how you feel or someone who
knows exactly how you feel and has fixed his own injuries?
Do you want to listen to someone who just talks about
health, diet and nutrition or listen to someone who actually
knows how to use the knowledge on himself?
